Last week, crews installed almost all of the de-watering wells and will install the remaining wells as work progresses. Crews also began installing the 30-inch sanitary sewer north along La Fox River Drive from Center Street. To date, they have installed approximately 120 feet of sewer.
On May 5, the IDOT Algonquin Road (Route 62) bridge project will begin. At that time, the Stage 3 contractor will halt installation of the 30-foot sanitary sewer along La Fox River Drive so they can focus on the work being done in conjunction with the IDOT project. During the first stage of the IDOT project, the Stage 3 crew will install a 48-inch casing pipe for the sanitary sewer through the intersection of Algonquin Road and Harrison Street (this pipe will be bored or drilled under the roadway). Also during the first stage, crews will install water main within the south half of the intersection of Algonquin Road and Harrison Street, as well as along the south side of Algonquin Road from the intersection to the bridge over the Fox River. Additionally, crews will install water main across the south half of the intersection of Algonquin Road and Main Street. During the second stage of the IDOT project, the remaining water main will be installed across both the Harrison Street and Main Street Algonquin Road intersections.
New Detour:
An additional detour will be starting Monday! Due to the construction coordination at the bridge, access onto Algonquin Road from North and South Harrison streets will not be permitted. Please follow the detour route on Main Street to bypass this work zone.
Traffic will be routed along Route 31 to Main Street and then back to Washington Street and La Fox River Drive.
We ask that drivers, pedestrians and bicyclists use caution due to the level of construction equipment along La Fox River Drive.
