Construction Update 5/30 (from Public Works)

Sanitary manhole installation/Sewer jack and bore/Water main installation

This week, crews finished installing the water main on the south side of Algonquin Road at Harrison Street. The contractor plans to put the new water main in service by the end of next week, after completing the connection to the existing water main. Crews also finished installing the 48” steel casing under Algonquin Road at the intersection of Harrison Street. The construction team has installed the 30” sanitary sewer within the casing and the associated manholes on both sides of the casing.

Next week, crews will begin work on the pavement restoration for the water main and sanitary sewer at the intersection of Algonquin Road and Harrison Street, which they expect to finish the second week of June. Once the crews complete the pavement restoration, the intersection of Algonquin Road and Harrison Street will be reopened.

Here's what to expect in the coming weeks:

The contractor anticipates that crews will resume installing the sanitary sewer along La Fox River Drive the second week of June. Around the third week of June, crews will install the south half of the casing across Algonquin Road at the intersection of Main Street. This intersection will be closed while crews complete this work.

Detour:

Due to the construction coordination at the bridge, access onto Algonquin Road from North and South Harrison streets will not be permitted. Please follow the detour route on Main Street to bypass this work zone.

Traffic will be routed along Route 31 to Main Street and then back to Washington Street and La Fox River Drive.

We ask that drivers, pedestrians and bicyclists use caution due to the level of construction equipment along La Fox River Drive.

This project is expected to take 10 months to complete. We appreciate everyone’s patience and understanding as we invest in this important infrastructure project to improve the community.
