#FlashbackFriday to June 8, 1935, when residents and visitors gathered for "Algonquin the Beautiful," a large #celebration held to commemorate 100 years of settlement. Attendees enjoyed a large parade during the day and danced later that evening to the tune of a full orchestra.

Ted Spella Leadership School

From the Village of Algonquin: Registrations are now being accepted for those interested in attending the returning Ted Spella #Leadership School. The school, named after former #Algonquin Village President Ted Spella, seeks to bring together a cross section of participants who are eager to expand their community involvement. This includes participation of “up and coming” #leaders as well as existing leaders who want to enhance their role in the #community.

Grant for Presidential Park Improvement

The Village of #Algonquin has been awarded a $400,000 grant to assist in the redevelopment of Presidential Park. The initial phase of improvements will include a new sports-themed playground, updated challenge course and fitness equipment, improved multi-use and soccer fields, and an upgraded open-air pavilion with restroom facilities.

“We are very grateful to receive funding for the improvements at Presidential Park through this very competitive state-wide grant process,” stated Debby Sosine, Village President. “The improvements to current amenities and construction of new features at Presidential Park will have a positive, lasting impression on our community as a whole.”
