Village Meetings - Tuesday, April 18

The Village Board will be meeting on Tuesday, April 18 starting at 7:25 p.m. with the Liquor Commission; followed by the Village Board meeting and Committee of the Whole meeting. The Liquor Commission will be renewing liquor applications. The Village Board will be voting on agenda items discussed at the previous Committee of the Whole meeting on 4/11. The Committee of the Whole will be discussing a request to amend the School District 158 Square Barn Road Campus PUD for solar panel installation. Meetings - April 10 & 11

Upcoming Meetings - Planning & Zoning Commission will be meeting on Monday, April 10 at 7:00 p.m. for hearings on amending Phase 2 of Pulte's Trails of Woods Creek subdivision and expanding solar panel field at District 158 campus. See link for agenda.

The Committee of the Whole will be meeting on Tuesday, April 11 at 7:30 p.m. in the board room to discuss many agenda items. Merit compensation; pool painting; Motor Fuel Tax; Tunbridge subdivision improvements; surplus items; Souwanas Trail & Schuett Street roadway & underground improvements; law enforcement joint training facility; and bike safety event are just a few of the items to be discussed. From the Village of Algonquin: The Village of #Algonquin has a scheduled prescribed burn for Friday, April 7, for the following locations: Algonquin Commons Detention Area; Grand Reserve Prairie Area; James B. Wood Park Detention Area; and Winding Creek Riparian Corridor.

During the burn, you may notice smoke and flames in the area. Please do not be alarmed as this is a planned and controlled burn that will help stimulate new growth and promote the health of our #prairie.

For your safety, please stay clear of the burn area during the operation. We appreciate your understanding and cooperation as we work to maintain and protect our restored natural areas.

April - Distracted Driver Awareness Month

From the Algonquin Police Department: April is Distracted Driving Awareness Month. In 2020, 3,142 people in the U.S. were killed as a result of distracted driving. Cell phone usage while driving is a moving violation that comes with a fine starting at $164! Illegal cell phone usage is not limited to texting, but also emailing, FaceTiming, social media, video streaming, playing games and much more. We urge motorists to #DropItAndDrive.

The Egg Hunt was a success! It’s amazing how quickly 15,000 eggs can be picked up.

Village Board Meeting -April 4

The Village Board will be meeting on Tuesday, April 4 at 7:30 p.m., 2200 Harnish Drive to vote on the following agenda items: Annual budget; zoning amendment for 1311 Merrill Ave.; vacation of Wendt St & easement/setback lines in the Algonquin Corporate Campus unit 3; approve previous meeting minutes and bills for payment. A proclamation will also be read regarding April 9-15 is National Public Safety Telecommunicators Week. Thank you public safety telecommunicators! Spring Cleanup

If you have items that can’t be donated or recycled, the Spring Cleanup dates are listed below. If you have any clean textile items (sheets, towels, clothing, table cloths, etc..) no matter if they’re torn or broken zippers, please keep it out of landfills by dropping it off at the Kane County recycling center/West Dundee Public Works bldg., 900 Angle Tarn, West Dundee between 7 am-3 pm M-F.

Rescheduled Egg Hunt

From the Village of Algonquin: EVENT UPDATE! Due to the inclement weather scheduled for tomorrow, we will be rescheduling our Algonquin Day Egg Hunt for Sunday, April 2nd. Fun will kick off with the arrival of the Bunny at 9:30am. We will also be adding in an area for older kids ages 6 and older, where we will be spreading all the eggs from our Flashlight Egg Hunt, including hundreds of prize eggs from Crumbl Cookies, Chick-fil-A Algonquin, Riverbottom Ice Cream Co., Churros Y Chocolate Inc, Culver's, which we had to cancel this evening due to the incoming storms. Road Construction 2023

Once the weather gets warmer and asphalt plants open, construction season will begin.

From the Village of Algonquin:

As spring has arrived and the weather begins to warm, the Village of #Algonquin is set to begin our 2023 construction season. Our contractor will resume work next week, weather permitting, on the High Hill Subdivision Improvements project north of Harnish Drive. The initial work will include saw cutting the pavement followed by curb, sidewalk and driveway apron removals at various locations. The Committee of the Whole will be meeting on Tuesday, March 14 at 7:30 p.m. in the board room, 2200 Harnish Drive.
