Village Meetings - June 6

There are two meeting scheduled for Tuesday, June 6th starting with the Liquor Commission at 7:25 p.m. A new business at 409 S. Main has submitted an application for an A-1 liquor license. The Village Board will be meeting at 7:30 p.m. regarding: proclamation of Pollinator Week; approve prior meeting minutes; approve bills for payment; adopt resolution on replacement fencing at Countryside Standpipe; adopt a resolution on motor control center replacement for Wells 7 & 11; and amend Ch 43.39 Video Gaming Terminals. All meetings are in the board room at 2200 Harnish Drive. There is a public comment period at the beginning of the Village Board meeting. Please register prior to the meeting. Village Meetings - Tuesday, May 16

The Village Board will be meeting starting at 7:20 p.m. on Tuesday, May 16 for a Liquor Commission Meeting, Village Board Meeting and Committee of the Whole Meeting. The Village Board will be voting on agenda items that were discussed at the previous Committee of the Whole Meeting. There will also be a Public Works Week (May 21-27) proclamation and a June Pride Month proclamation. The Committee of the Whole will be discussing fence replacement around the Countryside Standpipe and replacement of motor control center for Well 7 & 11. High Hill - Road Construction

From the Village of Algonquin: Please note that if you live or travel through the High Hill subdivision, the contractor has notified the Village that they will place the first asphalt layer for the roadways throughout the north side of the project area this week. Due to the high volume of trucks needed, flaggers will be on-site to direct traffic. We ask for your patience and caution when traveling in the work zone.

Randall Over 90

Kane County Division of Transportation will be hosting two public information meetings, with in-person and live virtual sessions, to discuss potential improvements to Randall Road between Big Timber Road on the south and Illinois Route 72 on the north, with a particular focus on its interchange with I-90 (Jane Addams Memorial Tollway).

Green Bracelet Program

The Green Bracelet Program has been started in Algonquin. Please read about it so you can identify people who might be in need of assistance.

From the Algonquin Police Department: The Algonquin Police Department is excited to announce the launch of the Green Bracelet Program

Who is it for:

* For residents who are elderly, disabilities that could place them at higher risk for becoming disoriented, lost or confused, or may have difficulty communicating their needs

* Those who may benefit could be individuals with autism, Alzheimer's, dementia, or other physical or mental health history

What is it:

* Participants will be issued a Green Bracelet containing a metal face plate bearing and ID number and instructions to contact the Algonquin Police Department if the participant needs assistance

* Relays quick access to relevant medical and emergency contacts for the participant

* No personally identifiable information (PII) will be located on the bracelet

Fairway View Drive - Pedestrian crossing

From the Village of Algonquin: On May 1, construction will begin on Fairway View Drive between Greens View Drive and Nottingham Drive to make roadway and pedestrian safety improvements. Fairway View Drive will be closed as crews install a new speed hump and pedestrian crossing located just north of Greens View Drive. Construction will take approximately 3 weeks to complete, and residents are asked to use the posted detour during this time.

Drug Takeback

Do you have unwanted/expired medication or over the counter medication? If so, please put in a plastic bag and drop it off in the drop box in the Police Department lobby.

From the Algonquin Police Department: A friendly reminder to our residents that if you missed the DEA Drug Takeback event this past weekend, our department lobby has a drop box available 24/7 for safe disposal of prescription and over-the-counter medications.

Styrofoam Recycling Drop Off

Did you know that you can drop off clean styrofoam packaging material at the Algonquin Public Works styrofoam shed on 110 Meyer Road, renamed to 110 Mitchard Way? Volunteers from the Environmental Defenders of McHenry County pick it up weekly for recycling. Please keep styrofoam out of the garbage collection and drop it off in the styrofoam shed at the Public Works facility on Meyer Road. Please look at the attached images for types of styrofoam accepted. Thank you.
