Last week, crews finished the installation of the new water main casing and poured the concrete base for the roadway at the south half of the intersection of Algonquin Road and Main Street. The construction team also completed installing the new sanitary sewer along La Fox River Drive through the 600 block. Crews anticipate completing the sanitary sewer work past the Prairie Trail today. In order to provide safe access during this work, flaggers will be on-site to direct pedestrians and bicyclists around construction.
On Monday, June 22, the contractor will place the final asphalt patch for the work at the Algonquin Road and Main Street intersection. The team plans on reopening the road by the end of the day on Tuesday, June 23. We appreciate everyone's patience during this process as we coordinated our schedule with the IDOT bridge construction project.
Next week, crews will continue installing the sewer along the 400 block of La Fox River Drive; flaggers will be present in this area to safely direct pedestrian and bicycle traffic. Residents in the immediate construction area should note that access to their driveways may be limited during the day. A member of the construction team will notify residents of driveway access restrictions in advance, either in person or with a construction notice door hanger. Additionally, residents along the east side of La Fox River Drive should know that as the sanitary sewer installation progresses past their home, residents could see a disruption of water services. If your water services will be impacted, a member of the construction team will provide 48-hour advanced notice of the disruption, either in person or with a construction notice door hanger.
Water main installation and concrete base placement
On Friday, did you notice a giant crane in town? Crews took advantage of the intersection closure and installed the remaining decorative elements on the bridge. New flower boxes and fascia was installed along the bridge. Flowers will be planted next week to complete this project.

Detour Information:
The Village will maintain two-way, local traffic on Main Street from Washington Street to Historic Village Hall/Rt. 62 (where the road closure will be located) and between Main and Edwards streets. The private alley next to The Black Bear Bistro will be available as a “one-way west” exit off Harrison Street to access Main Street. East bound traffic can use the parking lot behind Historic Village Hall to turn around.
The detour along La Fox River Drive remains in place. The intersection of Algonquin Road and Main Street will remain closed for construction through June 23.
This project is expected to take approximately 10 months to complete. We appreciate everyone’s patience and understanding as we invest in this important infrastructure project to improve the community.
